Happy Fall, friends! Today we’re kicking off a new monthly segment of Kermit Says… called Kermit’s Cup of Tea. This new feature will countdown my top picks of the month, and today we’re talking about FALL! So grab your favorite cup of tea, take a seat, and let the countdown begin!
Leaf piles, cider donuts, and pumpkin EV-ER-Y-THING! Listen, when I tell you I love fall, that’s just a terrible understatement. As I mentioned in my previous post, when fall hits, it’s an opportunity to turn over a new leaf (pun intended). And not only is it a time for a fresh start, it’s also a season filled with the most wonderful (and delicious) things like my personal favorites:
Five: Spicy scented candles. If you know me, then you know I’m a bit of a candle-holic, and some of my favorite scents just so happen to be fall-esque. I just love curling up on my couch with a good book in hand listening to the light crackle of my current favorite candle from the Kringle Candle store, Mulling Spices. This candle is a perfect blend of sweet cider, orange, cinnamon, clove, anise, vanilla, and tonka bean. It’s a delightful combination that is sure to bring the scent of fall to your home.
Four: SOUUUUUUP. There’s nothing like a big bowl of soup to warm you up on those frigid fall days. When I don’t feel like braving the cool air and running out to Panera Bread for their soup of the day, I love getting creative in the kitchen and trying my hand at making my own homemade soup. My favorites include broccoli and cheddar, butternut squash, lentil, and a big steaming cup of New England clam chowda. Click the link for recipes!
Three: Apple picking. Speaking of food, I love it. I love eating, and if I had to decide between pumpkin patches or an apple orchard, apple picking would win every. single. time! Sure, the apple picking part leaves nothing to the imagination, but it’s what comes next that really excites me because the options are endless. Apple pies, apple crisp, caramel apples, apple cider, apple cider donuts. I could go on and on and on…but I won’t. I’ll just leave you with a few more recipes that are sure to get your tummy in the mood for some fall comfort food.
Two: Leaves. Goodness, if you haven’t experienced a New England fall, then you haven’t lived! There is something so magical and refreshing that happens when the leaves change from a bright green to a mixture of yellows, reds, and oranges. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Oh, and did I mention jumping into a pile of leaves? Gather up the biggest leaf pile you can, and let yourself go because the freedom that comes with leaf jumping is absolutely exhilarating. You have to do it at least once in your life (or once a year, whichever comes first).
One: Sweater weather. I love shopping. In fact, shopping is my favorite sport. One of my greatest collections is my fall fashion, most notably my sweaters. Cardigans. Pullovers. Cashmere. Wool. I love wearing sweaters to keep me warm and to hide that inevitable food baby after eating so much soup and caramel apples!
Honorable Mentions: Fall TV! Scandal, Nashville, Empire, Modern Family, Sleepy Hollow. My old favorites have returned and some new, promising shows have premiered. What perfect weather to sit by the fire and fall in love with some great TV!
