Kermit Says: Shanah Tovah!

Happy Rosh Hashanah, friends! It’s been a heck of a long hiatus, but we are officially back and the timing couldn’t be better. This year’s Rosh Hashanah began last night and perfectly coincides with Kermit Says’ return. For those of you who don’t celebrate the Jewish holiday, Rosh Hashanah is the start of the Jewish New Year, and as someone who firmly believes new years, falls, and Mondays, in particular, bring about change, fresh starts, and new beginnings, this seems like a great time for Kermit Says… to start again, fresh, anew.

The last time you read a Kermit Says… entry, it was a different season and the end of the previous school year. As we gear up for this next year of all things Kermit Says…, let’s take a moment to reflect–in true Rosh Hashanah fashion–on what we’ve experienced, how far we’ve come, and where we’d like to go. What went well? What could we improve in our lives and in the lives of others? This summer, in particular, was especially interesting for me as I completed a ton of work, saw new sights, began (and ended) a new relationship, and rekindled old friendships. I learned lots, discovered new passions, and put myself first, which was probably the biggest gain. My greatest weakness has always been putting others first, so much so that I sacrifice who I am and what I want to my own detriment. Towards the end of the summer, I decided this needed to change, so I took a calligraphy class, saw my favorite musical artists, and made the decision to change my life for the better (more to come on that at a later date).

So whether you’re a lazy procrastinator, a weak-willed lamb, or an unhappy settler, please know that it’s never too late to change your circumstance, it’s never too late to live the life you desire, and it’s never too late to be the person you want to be. May this new year, new season, and first day of a new week be the start of a good and sweet new year.

Shanah Tovah!
