Happy Friday, friends! It seems like now more than ever we need something fun, funny, creative, happy, and positive to counter all the negativity occurring in the world. Therefore, this couldn’t be a better time to bring back “Kermit’s Cup of Tea: Friday Findings,” where each week I’ll share my favorite finds from the week. If you stumble across something worth sharing and want to see it up on the blog, feel free to comment below or send an email to contactkermitsays@gmail.com. We’d love to hear from you!
Now, let the countdown begin:

Best Find: Leslie Knope. If you know me, then you know I’m obsessed with all things Parks and Rec. With the possibility of electing our first female president, it’s only natural for me and those like me to think of Leslie Knope, how she would feel, and what she would do during this election. The multiple binders. The lifesize cutouts. The sheer excitement and energy. And then the victory and concession speeches we never imagined we’d hear occurred late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Again, Leslie Knope popped into my head, likely eating her feelings (and weight) in whipped cream-covered waffles. Well, never did I think she’d pen and publish a letter reflecting on Trump’s unexpected win. Read it here.
Honorable Mention: Ellen Degeneres. It has been a longtime dream of mine to not only meet Ellen, but also be a guest on her show (hey, a girl can dream, right?). I love her humor and optimism. She can always (at least on the show) see the good in situations, provide a light-hearted perspective, and lift the spirits of some pretty down folks during some pretty difficult times. And while this Election Day taping was filmed prior to the results, I’d say the trend is the same: optimism and humor. In the above video, Ellen reminds each of us what makes America great already. Hopefully it will lift your spirits, even if it’s just for 2 mins and 46 seconds.
Honorable Mention: The Mannequin Challenge. Now, for something non-election related. If creativity and skill came together, it would most certainly produce this new viral video “challenge” sweeping the nation! It’s not entirely pointless like the Cinnamon Challenge or dangerous like the Fire Challenge, but fun, original, and imaginative. Kudos to the high school students from Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, FL who started this sensational trend. Have you filmed one? Do you have a favorite? Comment below!
