I know this week we’ve been talking all things patience, and I oftentimes feel as though the morning rush is really testing said patience. With sleep still covering my eyes and drool fresh on my pillow, making breakfast is the last thing on my mind. In fact, it’s not even on my radar. If this sounds all too familiar, here’s a quick and easy recipe to get you out of the door in a hop, skip, and jump!

I love smoothies, especially in the summer, but even on a cold wintry day, it gets the job done. On Sunday nights, I prepare for breakfast by packing a few zip-locked bags with my favorite fixin’s and placing them in the freezer, which means they’re portioned out and ready to pop in the blender when I’m ready. This week’s smoothie is all things green and healthy because after stuffing my face during Thanksgiving dinner, clean and healthy sound alright with me. Here’s what you need:

1 cup of frozen mangoes to promote healthy eyesight

1 cup of frozen pineapples to boost your immune system

1/2 of a frozen banana to jumpstart your metabolism

1-2 cups of spinach for vitamins and nutrients necessary for healthy skin, hair, and bones

1 cup of water (or almond milk for a thicker, richer smoothie)

*Feeling fancy? Throw in a tablespoon of chia seeds for extra fiber, protein, and various micronutrients.

And blend to perfection!

Depending on your blender strength, this recipe takes less than 5 minutes. I’m not sure you can beat that! You can blend while you’re getting ready for school or work and drink it on the go. No mess, no real clean up. Just a super easy, simple, and refreshingly delicious meal that is sure to energize you for an electrifying day!
