Tuesday Tunesday: L.O.V.E.

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! Whether you find yourself in a committed relationship, in the beginning stages of a new one, or happily single, I am sending so much love your way. There is so much to love about love: the electricity that floats through your fingertips when your hands touch, the butterflies in your stomach and racing heart when your eyes meet, and the chemistry you feel every time you speak. When you find someone who loves you for you, you feel understood and like you can be your whole self in a world that makes it very difficult to be fully you. When it’s the right love, it makes you happy. It makes you skip and smile. Love is not, however, finding someone to complete you, but to complement you, and knowing the difference is key. Love means having someone with whom you can do and share things. Love means you matter to someone else. Being in love is like actually wanting to be awake because your real life is so much better than your dreams.

I could go on and on, but let’s face it, there are other folks, like songwriters, who’ve done a much better job than I have in describing love. Take a listen to a few of my favorite love songs and comment below with yours!

“Let It Burn” by Jazmine Sullivan

“Call Me When You Get This” by Corinne Bailey Rae

“So High” by John Legend

“He Loves Me (Lyzell in E Flat)” by Jill Scott

“Like I’m Gonna Lose You” by Meghan Trainor feat. John Legend

“You Got Me” by The Roots feat. Erykah Badu

“I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles

“Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol

“First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes (yes, two weeks in a row)

  1. I love this sentiment. It is important for young ladies and young men to understand the importance of becoming your best self before looking for a mate.
