Motivational Monday: Give Love

Happy Motivational Monday, friends! I don’t know about you, but I had an incredible weekend, and I owe so much of that to you guys. I turned 29 on Saturday and was spoiled rotten with so many delicious treats, cards, and gifts, I’ve fallen into a bit of a sugar coma. One cake from my sister, two cakes from one student, and a platter of the most amazing cupcakes and cookies I’ve ever eaten from another student. How is it possible to boil down so much love and pack it into the sweetest and most filling desserts I’ve had in a while? The thing about birthdays and birthday treats is that you can’t help but feel so loved, it’s almost a bit overwhelming. In fact, sometimes I’m so happy and smitten, it feels like my heart will burst at any moment. So just when I’m about to pop, I share this love, like birthday treats, with the ones I cherish most.

While I don’t often find myself armed with desserts galore, and I imagine you don’t either, I encourage you to spread love any chance you get before it’s too late. Whether it’s your parent(s), teacher, sibling, best friend, significant other, or yourself, don’t wait for birthdays to roll around to show someone you care about them. Give them flowers while they can still smell them. We need love now more than ever, so why not start today and right now? Spread love by doing the following:

  • Shower someone with compliments
  • Be someone’s cheerleader.
  • Tell someone you appreciate them and why
  • Be a good listener
  • Show physical affection
  • Give them your undivided attention (put those phones away)
  • Perform a good deed
  • Devote quality time
  • Give a gift
  • Be kind
