On Mother’s Day

Happy Sunday and Happy Mother’s Day, friends. Today is a day that can be so complex and bring up various complicated emotions for many of us. Some are celebrating their mothers and mother figures, some are grieving the loss of their mothers, and some have difficult (or non-existent) relationships with their mothers. Whatever it is you are feeling today, I hope you will let Mother’s Day be what it is. I hope that you will:

  1. Acknowledge and affirm your feelings and what shows up for you, especially in your mind and body.
  2. Be kind and gentle with yourself as you honor these experiences.
  3. Spend the day doing something that feels authentic and nourishing to you, either by yourself or with loved ones.

And to my own mother: a God-fearing woman with grace, poise, beauty, intellect, and drive; a woman who has broken barriers, shattered glass ceilings, and been an incredible role model, pillar of strength, travel partner, musical lover, confidant, prayer warrior, friend, and mommy. I am so thankful and blessed to be your daughter. Thank you for all that you do and have done, and more importantly, thank you for who you are.
