With so much hurt, pain, and violence permeating the world, it’s probably difficult to find things for which we can be thankful. How can we gather around a table and express gratitude when innocent people are murdered at movie theaters and unarmed teenagers are shot and killed by the very people who swore to protect them? It’s easy to feel hopeless, helpless, and just plain down and out. It takes work to find something, anything worth holding on to, worth appreciating, worth giving thanks…but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try, right?

Kermit Says: Give Thanks

A few years ago, my family decided to be more intentional about Thanksgiving and the very act of giving thanks to our loved ones. Everyone has their own 5.5 in. x 4 in. notebook that we spend time writing thoughtful notes to express our gratitude for each family member. And while it’s a bit time consuming, it’s important to take time for the things and–more importantly–the people who matter most. What better way to honor your loved ones than by letting them know you care, how much you care, and why you care?
